Blessed are the Meek

“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” (‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭5‬ ESV)

Gentleness or meekness is the opposite of being out of control. It is not weakness, but supreme self-control empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Meekness is not weakness.  It is quite the opposite. Those who are meek have the ability to receive abuse without  becoming angry. They are able to respond with love when their enemy abuses them. 

Our Lord Jesus demonstrated meekness when He suffered and died on the cross to save us from our sins. Instead of rage He said “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

Lord help us to show meekness and love today, even when we don’t receive it in return.
